FM-200* Total Flooding Fire Suppression System

The FM-200* Total Flooding Fire Suppression System is an engineered system utilizing a fixed nozzle agent distribution network. The system is designed and installed in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 2001, “Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems.” When properly designed, the FM-200 system can suppress a surface burning fire in Class A, B, and C hazards. The fire fighting ability of the FM-200 system is achieved through 80% heat absorption and 20% direct chemical means (action of the fluorine radical on the chain reaction of a flame). Fire suppression using the FM-200 system has the following advantages: n Most effective when used with automatic detection to rapidly introduce FM-200 fire suppression agent n The ability to prevent re-ignition when concentration levels are maintained n Clean agent suitable for protection of high value assets
Typical areas for FM-200 system protection:

Bank vaults | Libraries | Rare book stores | Electronic data processing | Telephone exchanges | Studios | Communication centers |
Transformer and switch-rooms | Control rooms | Test laboratories | Flammable liquid storage

NOVEC Total Flooding Fire Suppression System

Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is a clean agent fire extinguishant which was developed as a halon replacement and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) alternative. It belongs to a family of chemicals called halocarbons, a group which includes HFCs and fluoroketones.

  • Novec 1230 gas is synthetic/chemical fire suppression gas/agent.
  • Novec 1230 is a waterless fire suppressant and extinguishes a fire by removing the free radicals or heat element of the fire triangle (Oxygen, Heat and Fuel).
  • The concentration of Novec 1230 is typically between 5.3% to 5.6% of the room volume.
  • Novec 1230 in its natural state, looks and feels like water. Novec is a non conductive liquid that has some surprise characteristics. Often Novec is exhibited by filling a fish tank with the Novec fire suppression agent, then inserting a computer screen within the liquid switch on. Mobile phones can be placed within the liquid and will operate as normal.
  • Novec 1230 boils at 48 degrees Celsius and vaporizes in the fire suppression delivery when discharged.

CO2 Total Flooding Fire Suppression System

Carbon dioxide or CO2 is a colorless, odorless, electrically non-conductive gas that is highly efficient as a fire suppression agent. Carbon Dioxide fire protection systems use intelligent, reliable and fast-acting control panels to quickly sense a fire before it can cause damage to property. Carbon dioxide gas has a high rate of expansion, which allows a CO2 fire protection system to work fast. When applied to a fire, CO2 provides a heavy blanket of gas that reduces the oxygen level to a point where combustion cannot occur. Since carbon dioxide is a gas, there is no clean-up associated with a CO2 fire suppression system discharge. That means minimal interruption to your business. In fact, the cost of clean-up and peripheral damage associated with water sprinkler systems, foam systems and dry chemical agents can exceed the costs associated with the actual fire damage. With a Carbon Dioxide system, clean-up costs and downtime associated with a CO2 discharge are negligible.

Vehicle Engines Fire Suppression System

Fire Engineers & Safety Solutions has a vehicle fire suppression system ideal for protecting motor engine compartments. Designed without the use of expensive electronics, the system instead works via pressure, making it much simpler to operate. The first stage is to install our unique detection tubing throughout the engine compartment. Once installed, it will react to any sign of fire with speed and accuracy, and act to put it out before there is any risk of it spreading to other parts of the engine. This system does not require separate power backups and also has the minimum of moving parts, resulting in a highly reliable system. Using a Direct Low Pressure Powder or the optional Low Pressure Gas, Fire Engineers & Safety Solutions are easy to install and come complete with all the fixings required and fitting instructions. Or, for a nominal fee, we can fit it for you at our facilities in Ipswich or a location convenient to you.
